Down on the Farm

A self-guided tour to multiple locations throughout King William and King & Queen counties focusing on the heritage of agriculture, forestry and fishing. Visit Hillsborough Farm, Elsing Green, the Pamunkey Fish Hatchery, Lester Mnor Station and Day Spring Farm. Something for the entire family; demonstrations, animal petting, sustainable farming techniques, displays, hands-on activities,wildlife habitat, lawn care, purchase local jams, jellies, pumpkins, flowers and pickles. 2008 Northern Neck Food & Harvest Festival

2008 Northern Neck Food & Harvest Festival...September 27 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Stratford Hall. Celebrate the fall season with a fun festival for the whole family. Features:

* Bluegrass bands featuring the Mark Newton Band
* Food including barbeque, hamburgers and Crab Dawgs!
* Wine tasting including souvenir glass (must be 21)
* Chocolate-making demonstration in the kitchen outbuilding
* Kids activities: petting zoo, face painting, Colonial games & more
* Regional artisans & craftsmen. Vendors include "Virginia's Finest"
* Hayrides, Gristmill tours and much, much more!
* $5 for adults and $3 for children. Admission for members of the Friends of Stratford is free. (Great House tours and wine tasting not included in the festival admission price.)

Parks & Recreation 4-H Mini Camp Basic Safety for Kids: August 6th, 7th, and 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at King and Queen Central High School. For children ages 9-12. Pre-registration is required. Cost: $8. Contact Catherine Short 785-5979 for more information.

All classes will be at the King & Queen Courts and Administration Building.
All craft items made in these classes will be eligible to be entered in the Arts Exhibit at Community Pride Day.

King & Queen County Parks & Recreation Commission will be hosting Community Pride Day on October 18, 2008 from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. (rain or shine) at King & Queen Central High School. King and Queen Alumni Association

The King and Queen Alumni Association school-wide reunion on June 14-15, 2008. This reunion will be dedicated in the memory of to our late President, Patricia Elaine Ball. All interested alumni who have not attended a previous reunion and would like to be included in our informational mailings are asked to supply us with your addresses. Contact persons are: Rev. The Virginia Horse Council

Woman's Club of King & Queen

The Woman's Club of King & Queen holds the general membership meetings at the Club House on Allen Circle, located in the King and Queen County Courthouse Green area. The meetings begin at 2:00 PM on the third Thursday after the first Monday of each month September to April. In May the annual luncheon is at a local restaurant where on alternating years, we have installation of officers.

The Walkerton Day Parade

The Walkerton Day Parade is held each year on the first Saturday of August, with the crowning of "Miss Walkerton" after the parade. Contact Walkerton Community Fire Association for more details.

Upper King & Queen Vol. Fire Department Chicken Supper

Upper King & Queen Vol. Fire Department hosts an annual Chicken supper in September, take-out is available.

Upper King & Queen Ruritan Club

The Upper King & Queen Ruritan Club meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at their clubhouse off of Route 721 Newtown Road on Pattie Swamp Road.

K & Q Book Club

The K & Q Book Club meets the 1st Monday of each month, 5:30 p.m. at the St. Stephens Branch - Pamunkey Regional Library. Call 769-1623 for more information.

King & Queen Planning Commission

The Planning Commission holds their meetings on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the King & Queen County Administration Building on the first floor in the Hearing Room.

Parks and Recreation Commission

The Parks and Recreation Commission holds their meetings on the 1st Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the King & Queen County Administration Building on the first floor in the Hearing Room.

King & Queen County Board of Supervisors

The King & Queen County Board of Supervisors holds their regular meetings on the 2nd Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the King & Queen County Administration Building on the first floor in the Courtroom.

King & Queen Ruritan Club

The King & Queen Ruritan Club meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Woman's Club clubhouse on Allen Circle near the courthouse complex. New members welcome.

King & Queen County School Board

The King & Queen County School Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the King & Queen County Administration Building on the first floor in the Courtroom.

Hunter's Lunch

The Hunter's Lunch is provided at Providence United Methodist Church each year during hunting season from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Your choice of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot soup, beans, hot dogs and your choice of dessert. Contact Jeannie Langford at 443-4250 for more information.

Annual Christmas Song Service

The Annual Christmas Song Service is an annual event, which is held at Providence United Methodist Church on the 2nd Sunday in December at 7:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy Providence United Methodist Church Choir and many others. Refreshments to follow in the church fellowship hall.

Lower King & Queen Vol. Fire Department Events

Lower King & Queen Vol. Fire Department hosts an annual Chicken supper in April, a Fish Fry in May, and a Brunswick Stew Dinner & Community Halloween Party in October. They host an annual Sweetheart Dance in February, as well as numerous bake sales and yard sales. For more information please contact T. A. Haynes at 785-2205.

The Walkerton Community Fire Association BBQ Dinner

Walkerton Community Fire Association holds an annual BBQ dinner in May on the 3rd Sunday from 4-7 p.m. For more information please contact Ed Wilson at 769-2060.
